A twist on continuous work orders.

Just the other day I ran across an interesting twist on using continuous work orders for assemblies. One of our Coldwater customers that manufactures Switchgear was releasing work orders for common assemblies. Rather than creating individual and unique work orders, they created a work order with the part number and instructed the shop to maintain a two bin system.  When one bin was out, replenish the bin and just write the quantity produced for the part number. This completely eliminated the need for creating, printing and processing a paper traveler for a significant number of their piece parts.

Simply brilliant!
